What You'll Learn

According to the RAID General Diving Standards, the Nitrox course covers the following key areas:

•    Understanding Enriched Air Nitrox
•    Learn what Nitrox is, how oxygen percentages affect your breathing gas and how it differs from ordinary air.
•    Dive Planning & No-Decompression Limits
•    Learn to plan dives using modified no-decompression limits with a programmable Nitrox dive computer or dive planning software.
•    Maximum Operating Depth (MOD)
•    Calculate the MOD of an analysed Nitrox mix and understand the relationship between oxygen partial pressure and depth.
•    Oxygen Safety & Toxicity
•    Understand the hazards of handling oxygen-enriched gas mixtures, equipment cleaning considerations and the signs and symptoms of CNS oxygen toxicity.

RAID's published Nitrox standard specifies training for oxygen mixtures from 22% to 40%, with dives conducted to the maximum depth of the diver's highest certification and within the applicable oxygen partial pressure limits.
